Earning an Income from Equine Sports

The equine world can be an affluent one, and there are numerous ways that you can get involved in this industry to help earn a living, or a little extra on the side.

Become a Professional Rider

Becoming a professional rider can take many years of experience and training, plus a large investment in equipment and the right horses but if you can make the grade and earn good prize money from a hobby you love, then why not! There is also the potential to earn money from corporate and commercial sponsorships, be paid to train other riders and ride other horses on the owners behalf, or if you become well known enough even from public appearances, demonstrations and celebrity appearances

Run an Equestrian Establishment

If you love horses than a job looking after horses or teaching other to ride could be your ideal job! From running a livery yard– where you look after other peoples horses, to becoming a riding instructor either freelance or owning or managing a riding school- a centre where riders are taught equine skills on and off the horses, then if you undertake the right traiuing and registration this could be a great way to get paid for doing something you love

Become a Groom

All horses need to be cared for, and on larger yards with multiple horses they often need a groom to help look after them. This could be a groom that just helps with day-to-day care of the horses, or one who helps ride or exercise them as well. Career progression can be interesting as a groom with various levels extending right up to helping look after horses at competitions abroad, being able top keep your horse and training at the yard you work for, and even work at levels such as the Olympics or international competitions meaning you get to travel the world too!

Making Wagers on Equine Sports

If you don’t want to be physically involved in the equine world but love the sports such as racing and eventing then you can partake remotely by learning the ways of these sports and betting on the outcome. There are lots of different ways that you can bet on equine sports, most commonly horse racing, and lots of ways you can do this including online betting. With increasing ways you can bet online this means lots of fab introductory offers its best to find the best bookies sign up offers.

Buying and Selling Horses

If you know your stuff when it comes to horses, there is always the potential to buy and sell horses and ponies. You can often find young or inexperienced horses and ponies that have the potential to add value by training them, educating them, or giving them a little more TLC and world experience than their current owners have the time to do so. Whilst you need to have good knowledge of equine care and training to do this successfully, it can be especially rewarding to take a young or novice horse, to put the time and effort in to educating it and find it a new home where it can flourish in an equestrian sport with new owners.

As you can see, with the right experience and knowledge you can earn extra income from the equestrian world either practically or digitally. This list isn’t exhaustive and there are lots of aspects of the industry, but this should serve as a good start to inspire you.
