Church House Farm is a BHS Approved livery yard, situated in Woodham Mortimer, near Maldon, Essex; an idyllic location nestled in the heart of the Essex countryside, and away from passing traffic.
Church House Farm Livery is owned and operated by Bob who is himself a keen rider. Bob takes great pride in maintaining the yard to the highest of standards. Yard Manager Adi takes care of the day to day running of the yard, and provides full care for the horses.
There are 75 acres of excellent grazing, direct links to bridlepaths and beautiful, panoramic views over the surrounding farmland; for horse owners the location is certainly an attractive benefit.
Many of the facilities have been purpose built providing clients with an excellent range of resources at their disposal…there’s even a washing machine for all those grubby numnahs and boots!
With the convenience of modern purpose-built facilities, the small dedicated team are able to offer a first-class service and accommodate the individual needs of clients wherever possible!

Feeding requirements are discussed prior to arrival, most horses are fed from our stock supplies, but individual needs can be catered for by arrangement. Shelving is available for supplements, apples and carrots etc. please supply your own and we will be happy to add them to your horses feed as required.
All of the hay and haylage is grown on-site and the rest is sourced from a trusted local supplier, ensuring a consistent standard. Only hay of the highest quality is fed and storage is all under-cover. Hay is provided at regular intervals.
We operate a different system of turnout for summer and winter but all horses are turned out and brought in daily unless it is not safe or practical to do so. Included in this service is the changing of any rugs, fly masks, boots etc that may be required. All horses feet are picked out after they have been out at grass and fly-repellents can be spayed on the horses during summer. We now have surfaced winter turnout paddocks.
All the stables have rubber matting with either a straw or shavings bed; these are mucked out daily and freshened up with clean bedding. An evening skip out is also included in our prices.
During Summer the horse walker is available for use at £5/hour, all the horses are given a daily session on the walker during winter and this is included in our prices. Other forms of exercise and packages are available as an extra service.
We also offer extra services such as clipping, show preparation (bathing, trimming, pulling, plaiting), schooling, hacking & lunging for additional charges.
We hold regular dressage and jumping clinics on site so owners don’t need to travel their horses.
The tackrooms are locked and alarmed at all times, with all owners having their own exclusive access code. Once inside you have storage for your tack and grooming kits etc, there is also a table and chairs, heating, a fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
Each stable is allocated a corresponding rug rail all under the same roof, making storage of all those bulky winter rugs a bit easier.
On the theme of rugs there is a washing machine available for those smaller items like boots and numnahs, just help yourself and get all your washing done while you ride!
Aside from there being ample parking for cars, there is also space for trailers and horseboxes by arrangement
