The Healing Potential of HHC Gummies: What Science Says

HHC gummies are the lesser known cool and mysterious cousin of CBD and THC products. In the past 2-3 years they have been gaining popularity as they fall into the legal gray area of not being a restricted substance whilst still offering the psychoactive effects of THC products. Many retailers have jumped on the bandwagon to offer this ‘legal high’, but with limited scientific research, how much do we actually know about the potential benefits of HCC gummies?

What is HHC?

Many people wonder exactly what is the difference between HHC and THC. HCC is a semi-synthetic cannabinoid derived from a compound in the cannabis plant. Most products on the market are hemp-derived for legal reasons, meaning they are based on Delta 8 THC. It is semi-synthetic because the THC must be hydrogenated to create hexahydrocannabinol (HCC), which is a psychoactive compound.

There is little research into HHC, particularly in regards to its effect on humans, but based on its chemical structure it is assumed to have very similar effects to THC, most commonly found in marijuana. This hypothesis is widely supported by anecdotal evidence from HHC users who experience many of the same effects as they do from THC. Studies carried out on its effects on animals suggest that it lowers pain, improves mood and increases appetite

What science says

There have not been any studies on the effects on HHC on humans, so the jury is officially still out on whether or not its suspected benefits can be verified. However, anecdotal evidence supports the hypothesis that it has a very similar effect to Delta 9 THC and its molecular structure is known to be “chemically similar” to that of Delta 9, so it would be reasonable to assume it shares some of the benefits attributed to Delta 9 THC. There are also pre-clinical studies that indicate HHC shares the pharmacological potential of THC.

On a molecular level, the double bonds in THC are broken during the hydrogenation process and replaced with hydrogen atoms. As a result of this, the compound takes significantly longer to break down, and therefore the effects of HHC last longer.

Healing powers?

This long-lasting effect could increase the healing power of this compound and broaden its potential uses. HHC gummies are commonly used to treat all kinds of issues from chronic pain to sleep disorders. HHC is thought to be useful in helping people heal after experiencing trauma due to its long-lasting anxiolytic and mood-boosting effects. It is also very well known for promoting more restful sleep and sufficient good-quality sleep is vital in optimizing the body’s natural healing processes.

Another way in which HHC is believed to possess healing powers is through its anti-inflammatory properties which are known to reduce pain and discomfort from swelling. It has even been shown to have significant neuroprotective potential in a study on rats, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation to the brain which could reduce brain damage caused by a stroke. It is clear that HHC has huge therapeutic potential but more clinical studies are needed to fully understand what this semi-synthetic cannabinoid has to offer.

For many people who use cannabis-derived products, they strongly believe that the power of these products lies in their multifaceted benefits within the body. Each benefit alone is all well and good, but the combination of anxiolytic, anti-inflammatory, pain relieving and somnolent properties that HHC has to offer are said to create an all-round sense of wellbeing and when we feel better, we get better.

Is HHC right for me?

As with all cannabis-derived products, everyone reacts differently so the only way to know for sure is to give it a go. Many people choose HHC gummies because they are a legal substitute for cannabis which still get you high. Based on its chemical structure and anecdotal evidence, it is highly probable that HHC is stronger than Delta 8 but not as potent as Delta 9 THC, so if you’ve tried either of those then that may give you a rough idea of how you’ll respond to it.

HHC comes in all kinds of products including vapes, edibles and gummies. High-quality gummies such as HHC Belts are very popular as they are lab-tested to give you peace of mind about what exactly they contain, plus they’re a delicious and easy-to-consume format. HHC gummies generally take around 30 minutes to take effect and they are reported to last for up to 12 hours.
