High Plains Equestrian Centre is now established as one of the region’s leading BHS Approved Livery Yards and Events Centres. We are situated one mile south of Riding Mill, in a superb countryside setting with stunning views over the Tyne Valley.
We offer a range of livery services tailor-made to you and your horse as well as holding fun, friendly competitions and providing coaching for you on your own horse.
High Plains is a British Horse Society Approved Livery Yard, attaining ‘Highly Commended’ in all sections. It is also an ABRS Certified Livery Yard.
We offer a flexible range of services to suit a wide variety of livery requirements, from assisted DIY through to full livery, all of which benefit from the use of our extensive facilities. We implement high standards of horse care and welfare and offer year-round turn out. Livery Prices start from £239 pcm
Our facilities include 25 stables, a 60m x 40m floodlit arena, which boasts an Andrews Bowen Propel waxed sand and fibre surface. We have a full set of show jumps with extensive fillers, cross country course with jumps from logs on the ground to BE Novice, including water jump, ditch, bank, steps, corner and of course our Woodland Ride which stretches over 5.5km of beautiful Northumbrian countryside.
Yard Manager Julie Howard holds the British Horse Society Intermediate (Stage 4) Teaching Certificate, as well as the British Horse Society Stage 5 Stable Manager Qualification. The principles behind Julie’s coaching philosophy are deeply rooted in improving partnerships, promoting willingness and harmony between horse and rider and having FUN.
With excellent facilities for all disciplines Julie can offer coaching in Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country for those starting out at affiliated level as well as riders who may never have competed before. Please note that we are not a riding school with horses for hire, all lessons take place on the clients own horse.
At High Plains we run friendly unaffiliated Show Jumping and Dressage Qualifiers, aimed at genuine grassroots competitors. Our events are ideal ‘First Time’ competitions so if you haven’t competed before but want to get started, get in touch!
We usually have a waiting list but we are happy to discuss your requirements for livery and show you our facilities by appointment.
