Hook Farm incorporates a friendly, family run livery yard in the heart of the idyllic Sussex countryside in the South of England. We offer various livery packages to a range of horse owners and we can offer great facilities. We are fortunate enough to be able to offer ample grazing, all year turnout
We are classified as an area of outstanding natural beauty and with our large acreage of excellent pasture and far-reaching views, we offer the perfect haven for your retired horse or pony. We consider the most important element to running our livery stables is that both owners and their horses or ponies are happy, and that we maintain a friendly and pleasant atmosphere.
All horses are cared for with kindness and expertise and are treated as our own. Our land affords much natural shelter enabling our horses to live out in the herd year round but we can also offer a stable at night in the winter months and have competitively priced packages to include this. Our yard comprises both internal and external 12 x 12 looseboxes, with larger boxes available if required.
We are fortunate that the grassland on our farm nestles above an area of natural sandstone and this and our policy of stocking lightly per acre helps to avoid the common problem of horses standing in excessive mud in the winter.
We enjoy having our retired horses and time and again see old horses thrive here and often a hitherto poor doer changes beyond recognition in a short space of time from their arrival. We only graze our retirees with other retirees in groups of compatible geldings or mares.
We have many years of expert experience with retired horses and ponies and for the management of cushings/laminitis and many other health issues. Treatments are also available from our onsite animal physiotherapist (Advanced) and our Equine Massage Therapist. We are within ten minutes from our specialist Equine vet’s practice and have excellent local farriers for any remedial foot care problems or just regular routine care.
Prices start from £225.00 per calendar month.
