The Barn

Specialist retirement livery and paddock rest at a small, quiet yard in the heart of Wealden AONB in East Sussex. The owner is very experienced and knowledgeable and lives on site. 10 acres of well fenced paddocks that can all be seen from the house and stables. Light and airy American barn with 6 spacious boxes with rubber matting.

All Year Round:

* Thorough daily check, feet picked out, rugs/fly masks changed/removed as necessary.
* Daily bucket feed, as appropriate, with any added supplements/medication supplied by you/ by me at extra cost.
* Regular grooming, tail washing/bathing/washing down as necessary in the summer.
* Any minor cuts/wounds attended to.
* Farrier visits arranged and attended. Farrier’s fees included.
* 3 worm egg counts per year. Any necessary wormer supplied and administered. Costs included.
* Annual vaccinations and health check by vet arranged and attended. Vet fees not included.
* Annual/ 6 months – if necessary – dentist visits arranged and attended. Dentist’s fees not included.
* Rugs taken for washing, repairing, re proofing at extra cost

Winter Only (1st November – 30th April )

* Stabled overnight with other veterans in an American barn. Thick straw beds with added straw pellets for extra absorbency. The best of both worlds! Mucked out thoroughly every day. Best quality, locally produced hay and straw. Hay can be fed wet or dry.
* Turned out, well rugged, all day, every day in pairs or individually. Other horses in neighbouring fields for company.

Summer Only (1st May – 31st October)

* Live out day and night – as much as possible – with a field shelter and plenty of natural shade and shelter.
* Stabled during the day when necessary.
* All fields are regularly poo picked, harrowed, topped and sprayed.

Prices per month ( every 4 weeks – not calender ) 12.3hh and under: Winter £340, Summer £240, 13 – 14.3hh Winter £380, Summer £280, 15 – 16.3hh Winter £420, Summer £320, 17hh and over: Winter £460, Summer £360
